Ecology
Grows at Lowlands to subalpine elevations.
Commonly found in: Woodlands, meadows.
Uses
CAUTION: WIlted leaves contain toxins. Some people may be allergic to berries and develop hives or a rash.
Food
- Excellent source of vitamin C.
- Berries eaten fresh in May-June, and dried whole or in mashed cakes.
- Makes good tea.
Medicine
- Diarrhea medicine, as well as treatment for kidney and stomach problems.
- Disinfectant for cuts and sores.
