Ecology

Grows at Low to sub-alpine elevations.

Commonly found in: Moist woods, wet but well-drained seepage sites, along streams.

Uses

CAUTION: Spines break off easily and can become embedded in skin. Spines contain acid that can burn and irritate skin.

  • Arthritis medicine.
  • Treats colds, bronchitis, pneumonia.
  • Also blood purifier, tonic, and laxative.
