Food
  • Flowers in May and June.
  • High in vitamins A, B, C, E, and K.
  • Most parts are edible, but the seeds in the rose hips can irritate digestive tract.
  • Hips can be eaten raw or used for tea. Hips, leaves and roots also dried for tea.
Medicine
  • Medicine for diarrhea and stomach upset. Also an eyewash. Hot compresses reduce swelling. Treats tonsilitis and sore throat.
  • Chewed leaves can be applied to bee stings.
